IF YOU'RE IN NEED OF AN URGENT APPOINTMENT
We understand that seeking psychiatric care can be a difficult and overwhelming process, especially in urgent or emergency situations.
The setting of emergency psychiatric services usually takes place in a psychiatric hospital or an emergency department. We offer these services in our outpatient facilities which are a vastly more comfortable and discreet locale for practicing emergency psychiatry. The office is set up to offer fast and convenient diagnosis, treatment, and the prescribing of medications to alleviate emergent conditions. Our initial intervention is coupled with follow-up treatment. This provides a continuity of care that is not typical for emergent psychiatric patients. It simplifies the process of having to find multiple practitioners and makes it easier for the person in crisis.
The demand for these services has never been higher and this has caused a strain on facilities and personnel working in psychiatric emergency medicine. This demand has increased wait times in the hospital setting and increased the need for competent, caring and skilled practitioners. We are here to help alleviate this strain
If you're in need of an emergency or same-day appointment with a mental health expert, there are a few steps you can take to expedite the process. It's important to understand that many psychiatrists have limited availability for urgent appointments, so knowing this we intentionally leave openings for just such a situation and we make every effort to accommodate urgent requests for appointments.
The first step is to call our office and explain the urgency of your situation. We will make accommodations for patients in crisis, but it's important, to be honest, and clear about the nature of your needs. While we cannot guarantee availability at all times, we will do our best to work with you to find a time that works for both of us.
Regarding insurance, most patients prefer to use their insurance to cover the cost of their appointments. However, in emergency situations, it may be necessary to pay out-of-pocket for the visit. Our services are considered out of network, however, we can provide you with a form that you can use to request reimbursement from your insurance company for the appointment. Depending on your insurance policy/ insurance company, you may be able to get reimbursed for a percentage of what you pay us. The money you spend in therapy out of network may also count towards your insurance deductible.
To start the process, call the office at (561) 331-4444 and or begin filling out the paperwork to start your medical chart. https://www.pbpsych.com/contents/patient-forms
